F!@# The Name, Mumbai (Malad West)

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet – William Shakespeare (Romeo and Juliet)

I am different, f!@# your opinion! – Heath Ledger as The Joker

This restaurant located on the link road has taken both these gentlemen pretty seriously. So much so that irrespective of their name, they choose to not even have it put up outside the restaurant and yet manage to sell out all tables in the little space they have.

Visited them on a Saturday evening with a bunch of fellow foodies and here goes the story…

FROM THE DESIGNERS PERSPECTIVE!

It is a little place on Malad link road that would go completely unnoticed unless you plan to go to them. Without a name put up outside the restaurant they might be a difficult find. Wooden tables alongside cushioned wooden benches and sofas are places around the periphery of the place and are fairly comfortable. An illuminated bar makes the place livelier. Televisions keep you with the game. Music makes the drinks better.

DRINK IT BABY!

We tried three drinks this given evening, namely the Blushing Caprioska, Tropical Colada and Virgin Mojito. The Mojito was perfectly spun with fresh mint leaves and the right amount of sweetener.

The Tropical Colada was more so a pina colada and tasted quite nice. A teetotaler can play safe ordering this one.

Blushing Caprioska was soda base with a base of cranberry juice. One can avoid this one.

FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD!

Peri Peri Wedges don’t generally go wrong and here as well they lived up to the expectation. Served on a wooden platter they have the right amount of seasoning and spice. The mayo dressing makes them look more sumptuous.

Jalapeno Poppers are crisp fried poppers with a cheesy filling and tasted quite nice.

thumb_IMG_20160625_201316_1024

Achari Masala Paneer grilled cottage cheese in a pickled flavor. The paneer is soft but the there could be better marination.

thumb_IMG_20160625_205349_1024

Smoked Paneer is cottage cheese tossed in a house made sauce with a smoked flavor. Paneer’s soft and the sauce, tangy. Nice try!

Garic Bread came with good amount of cheese and green chilies. They were correctly baked and the chilies added the required spice.

thumb_IMG_20160625_203353_1024

Veg Lasagna enclosed baked beans, spinach and salsa. It was perfectly baked. A little more seasoning would make the dish more desirable. They take a long time to prepare this so schedule your order well.

thumb_IMG_20160625_211225_1024

Penne in Pink Sauce was made to order and was not the best we have had. The sauce lacked seasoning and tasted just ok. They also tossed large chunks of green and yellow zucchini and broccoli.

thumb_IMG_20160625_214728_1024

Onion Rings required four to five reminders and we thought they would serve the world’s best onion rings given the time they took only to be utterly disappointed. They were extremely oily with no seasoning. Avoid!

HOW MAY I HELP YOU?

A lot of places irrespective of they peps are better known for their service, F!@# the name, is not one of them. The service is slow and the staff is inattentive. It takes them a lot of time to process an order, so go to them when you have all the time.

HAWK EYE VIEW!

This place is like “he who cannot be named” from a JK Rowling written Harry Potter novel. Some hits and quite a few misses make them a skeptical visit.

STAR PICKS!

Peri peri wedges, Smoked paneer. Virgin Mojito.
